EDU – START-UP

Amal Network, Tel Aviv, Israel

We are all born with a natural urge to learn to create and develop as well as with a desire to understand and influence the world around us.

  • How do you prefer to learn and acquire knowledge?
  • How do you prefer to teach your students?
  • Does your school enable students to evolve?
  • Does your school encourage creativity among students?
  • Does your school prepare them for the future?
  • Have you ever dreamed of doing something innovative and wanted to know how to make it happen?
  • Do you succeed in challenging yourself and your students?

The society in which we live today encourages thinking outside the box and deals extensively with creativity as a way of life. Creativity is one of the most desirable assets in our society, one that is also seen as crucial to our personal success in the world of work, our social existence, and our future.

Through the creative process, innovation is brought into the world. It brings into awareness that which was previously hidden and leads the way to new life.  The Amal Entrepreneurship programs developed out of a deep understanding that students are a pool of human talent and the future technological, scientific and cultural leaders of the State of Israel. It is our duty as educators to nurture excellence among those with the highest abilities.

In this course, you will learn the principles of Education for Entrepreneurship programs developed in The Amal Educational Network .

We have developed unique models, which enable teachers to achieve their dreams with students and to experience learning in a real world setting through collaboration with high-tech companies, innovative leaders and academic institutions. We encourage our students to observe and look for real-life challenges in their community and to develop innovations that improve the lives of people and society as a whole.

During the course you will learn about the models and acquire practical tools and ideas on how to develop and implement such programs in your school.

Course developed by leading teachers from the Amal Educational Network :

Gili Alon, Gal aAzarzar, Leay Karamany, Lev Berman, Irit Harris, Megan Coss, Ofir Eliyahu, Yudit Dory, Revital Neemam, Hadas Emir, Oren Shacham.

Creating Social Innovations in the Community

Today, entrepreneurship is the key to success in any career. What distinguishes entrepreneurship in general from entrepreneurship in education is the ethical dimension and the connection to a multicultural society. Join us as we learn how to create an educational platform that enables students to assimilate the skills necessary for creating social innovations in the community.

Innovative Model for Entrepreneurship Centers

We are all born with a natural urge to learn to develop and with a desire to understand the world around us. Does your school enable students to evolve? Do you succeed in challenging your students? Does your school prepare them for the future? In this chapter, you will learn about our Innovation Centers and acquire practical tools and ideas on how to develop such a program in your school.

Part 1 – Entrepreneurship Competition: Innovations for People with Special Needs

How do you harness the initiatives of students into something meaningful, that has added value, and creates change? Through an Entrepreneurship Contest for the Community. We devised a contest that has two main stages: the first is a Hackathon in cooperation with high-tech companies. The second stage is the competition finals. In this chapter we’ll show you how to make your own Hackathon:

Part 2 – Entrepreneurship Competition: Innovations for People with Special Needs

How do we enable students to experience the business world? Through the Entrepreneurship Competition which allows students and their mentors see their dreams brought to fruition, and present their innovations for integration into society for the special needs population in front of leaders of the Israeli Hi-Tech industry. Now we will learn how this can be achieved.

This organisation is a far cry from conventional education. I agree with the idea that most schools do not prepare children for life and it is very clear that Amal nework does. I particularly liked the social cohesion sapect of the work. Everything seems to be in support of the local and wider community and is designed to help people. The multi-cultural dimension was also commented on and appears to be very positive. There is a feeling that opportunities here are limitless. Question: You touched on the fact that the school is influencing National policy, or at least it has caught the attention of the Government's eductaion department. Where do you see this going? What is the long term vision for change?

The lessons are very interesting: I like the link with the territorial needs for the young education. How do we integrate the activity lab with fundamental learning?
